When we told our staff that we were going to make a buffet on top of a mountain they looked at us like we were mad: but on the 5th November, at the highest point in the East Midlands we did exactly that! Why the highest point in the East Midlands? Well as we are the caterers who keep taking cold catering to new heights it seemed quite fitting! Our 15km walk around Kinder Scout was all in the name of charity as we raised money for Framework; who do an amazing job tackling homelessnness which is at a 20 year high in Nottingham.
So after a quick bacon butty at EverSo HQ at 7am we headed north to Kinder Scout. The 3-hour hike to the summit was challenging (not great planning deciding to hike up a mountain with enough food for a small army on our backs in the glorious November rain, wind and snow) but we made it and served lunch at 12 noon much to the delight of other fellow walkers!
We certainly got the attention of other walkers - it's not every day you see industrial buffet boxes getting carried up a mountain and then when you reach the summit there is a complimentary buffet ready and waiting! We had a great day walking and would like to give a massive thanks to everyone that supported and sponsored us and helped us raise an impressive £670!
